John originally trained as a clinical psychologist and was formerly Professor and Head of Psychology at Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. He regularly supervised PhD students and has acted as external examiner for PhD theses in various universities. His extensive research interests have included cognitive style, creativity, and occupational stress, but have focused mainly on the measurement of health-related quality of life. Until recently he was on the editorial board of Seizure -The European Journal of Epilepsy, and continues to advise other researchers on measurement issues and psychometrics. John’s publications include over 80 journal articles and book chapters; and he has presented research papers at national and international conferences and chaired various research symposia.
